THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

The peripheral nervous system is all the nerves in your body, aside from the ones in your brain and spinal cord. It act as a communication relay between your brain and your extremities. For example, if you touch a hot stove, the pain signal travels from your body finger to your brain in a split second. In just as short a time, your brain tells the muscles in your arm and hand to snatch your finger off the hot stove.

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
This progressive disease damages nerve cells in parts of the brain involved in memory, learning, language and resoning. In early stages, short-term memory begins to fail. Over time, functions such as long – term memory, language, and judgment decline.

DIMENTIA
It may affect people differently, depending on the area of brain affected. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia.
The basic route cause for the disease is destructive mind, not focused. Tension, worries gives negativity in thoughts that affects ones thinking process and kills the mind causes depression. Loneliness is also one of the causes.

LIFESTYLE AND HOME REMEDIES:
  • ENHANCE COMMUNICATION. When talking with your loved one, maintain eye contact. Speak slowly in simple sentences, and don’t rush the response.
  • ENCOURAGE EXECISE. Exercise benefits everyone, including people with dementia. The main benefits of exercise include improved strength and cardiovascular health. Exercise can also lessen symptoms of depression, help retain motor skills and create a calming effect.


ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION IN GAMES AND THINKING ACTIVITIES. 
Participating in games, crossword puzzles and other activities in which people are using thinking skills may help slow mental decline in people with dementia.

TREATMENT:
  • Vitamin E may slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Omega 3s, a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid found in fish and nuts, may reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and mild cognitive impairment
  • Antioxidant occurs naturally in our body. Its also necessary for normal cell reactions.


The following techniques may help reduce agitation and promote relaxation in people with dementia.
  • Music therapy, which involves listening to soothing music
  • Aromatherapy, which uses fragrant plant oils
  • Massage therapy


NATUROPATHY TREATMENT:
  • Improve eating habits. Sprouts like moong, sesame seeds and wheat. Roots n tubers, vegetable soup, salads.
  • Onion juice in the morning on an empty stomach, 1 and a half tbsp; do not take anything for half an hour after that. Virgin coconut oil 1 tbsp in the morning (soothing agent).
  • Malkangni oil intake 5 drops in milk or on battasha twice a day.
  • Shirobeach in the beginning for 5 days continuously, then twice a week, then twice in 15 days, then twice in month. Rai pillow 1-2 hr in a day (if sweating takes place reduce the time). If patients get hyper give him fever kadha.


ACUPRESSURE:
  • GL5, polarity, head pt.
  • Pranayam which purifies the blood.
  • Yoga, meditation purifies the mind, will improve mind control.
