Many
problems can affect the GI tract, including: abdominal pain, blood in the
stool, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, incontinence, nausea and
vomiting and difficulty swallowing.
Many
diseases and condition of the digestive system – including irritable bowel
syndrome, lactose intolerance, diverticulitis, GERD, Crohn’s disease, celiac
disease, peptic ulcer and hiatal hernia – can be chronic and are difficult to
diagnose and treat. Many of the diseases of the digestive system are tied to
the foods we eat, and many sufferers must restrict their diets.
DIGESTIVE DISORDERS
Digestive
disorders include the treatment of disease of the liver and digestive tract,
including the stomach, duodenum, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, small
intestine and colon.
LACTOSE INTOLERANCE?
If
you have lactose intolerance, you can’t digest lactose because your small
intestine doesn’t make enough lactase, the enzyme that digests lactose. The
lactose that isn’t digested makes gas in your colon.
Lactose
intolerance is easy to manage. You may do better having a little milk or dairy
products with meals, because it’s easier to digest lactose eaten with other
foods.
Some
dairy products may be easier for you to digest, such as cheese, yogurt, and
cottage cheese. Drink lemon juice/ orange before drinking the milk, it will
help in digesting the milk.
Soya
based milk alternative is good for lactose intolerant people. Soy protein is a
complete protein containing all the essential amino acids that your body
requires.
